There’s something so classy and elegant about classic eyelash extensions. Classic lashes can give a dramatic, subtle, or anything in between kind of look, depending on the material, diameter and length used. I can’t begin to tell you just how many times I’ve had clients say “Wow, I didn’t realize just how many options I have”. That’s because the lash industry is growing so fast due to the demand for long, full and dark lashes.
Classic eyelash extensions, meaning individual eyelash extensions that are applied using a 1 to 1 ratio, have diameters 0.10, 0.12, 0.15, 0.18, 0.20 and anything in between. Some people like to use a larger diameter than 0.20, however, I strongly recommend staying away from that. Even clients with gorgeous, thick natural eyelashes are safer using 0.20 lashes or less.
Remember, my rule is: NEVER LET THE BASE OF THE SYNTHETIC LASH BE LARGER THAN THE NATURAL LASH.
Have you ever mixed up your diameters during an application? If not, you should give it a try! Even if you’ve only applied 1 set in your entire life, you most definitely noticed how the center of your clients’ lashes tend to be the thickest, while the inside and outside corners are shorter and thinner, and in some cases, they can go in different directions. Try playing around with different dimensions to give a more natural lash look. Sometimes we use 0.15 on the ends and move to 0.20 in the center. It looks gorgeous!
Let’s chat about the material used in making eyelash extensions. The majority of eyelash extensions are made from a plastic fibre called Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) and then dipped in different materials to create a desired look or feel. Two of our best selling classic lashes are silk and cashmere.
House of Glam lash extensions are made from high quality PBT material and then dipped in silk or cashmere coating. Cashmere lashes are ultra lightweight and are almost magnetic to the natural lash which make them perfect for inexperienced lash artists. They are the softest lashes on the market. Silk lashes come in matte and glossy options and they hold their curl extremely well. Silk lashes can give a darker and more dramatic look than cashmere.
